Non-user friendly product urls

by @mktonline (280), 2 years ago

Hi Guys,

I am working on a B2B product-based website and there are many products alias that is non-user-friendly. Because there are many URLs product-based. Now I am confused to change slug with keyword or not. Can anyone suggest to me which strategy will help me to get a user-friendly website?

The navigation must have a clear structure. Look at the users and search intent and adjust your URL structure accordingly.

  • Are the keywords included in the URL?
  • Do the most important search terms appear in the URL?
  • Can the URL be shorter?
  • Are there other URLs that also have these search terms?
  • Don't do keyword stuffing
  • Is the URL clear ?
  • Is the URL no more than 3 layers deep ?

You can change it but keep URL short with proper keywords. if the site is old then don't change it all in a single day. first, change some of pages url and see.

Thanks @ravi,

I am trying to keep a shorter product URL. Yes, the website is old, that's why I'm changing URLs 4-5 per day. Should I use the same tactics on the e-commerce website? Would you suggest another idea?

Thanks @ravi,

The same concern for a 1-year-old e-commerce site that is made on Magento.

Product URL path:

https://www.website.com/category/sub-category/starting-at-rs-999/highclass-women-shoe.html

I have to change it.

Actually, Its some url open with .html/without html/ with slash & without slash. Is it good?

Keep your website consistent - either use .html or not. Trailing slash doesn't matter.

1 single category/subcategory page opening with all types. With trailing slash, with HTML, and as well as without slash and HTML...

have you used ever UTM code for an SEO campaign?
