Sitemap with wrong data, is this critical when this pages are not crawled, yet?
Hello, in our sitemap are a lot of pages with misstakes.
- 500 error pages
- pages that should use the no-index tag
- missing href lang tag
The sitemap is already uploaded in the search console, but the "wrong" pages with errors are not yet crwaled. Is it critical to wait, to fix this issues?
Our IT donĀ“t see this as critical error, because the pages are not crawled by Google.
What arguments can we use to get a prio to this issues?
Google will stop crawling a website with such errors. In the case mentioned, sitemap can be removed and the website should be blocked to be crawled until the errors are fixed.
When Google stops crawling, rankings drop or vanish completely. It must be addressed on priority basis.
And will this affect the hole domain or only the subdomain (from which the sitemap is)?
@binayjha (5304) And will this affect the hole domain or only the subdomain (from which the sitemap is)?
All the URLs the sitemap has will be affected.
Ok. So in our case, this are "only" the pages of the subdomain. Because for the "main" domain we have an other sitemap, because of an other business modell.
So this has no critical impact on the "main" domain then?
Yes @nicky, No impact on the main domain.
Ok, thank you very much @binayjha (5314)!
