Meta Description Confusion

by @ezekielrochat (114), 1 year ago

Hey All! Here are the details.

  • We launched a site on Webflow about 3 or 4 months ago.
  • We have submitted the site map to GSC multiple times.
  • We have title tags and meta descriptions set up properly.

Here's the issue.

For some reason when you do a brand search for the site, "allied industrial partners" - the top 4 results underneath the home page are all pulling in the same meta description.

See here: search results

However, when I simply do an alternate search result with a site-specific variable, it shows the correct meta descriptions that we have set.

See here: alt search results

I know that at the end of the day, Google gets to decide which meta description to show.

But any thoughts or ideas on how I could fix this or get them to reevaluate the meta descriptions that they are displaying?

Any help is much appreciated! Thanks!

The visible content of inner pages in the SERP while searched 'allied industrial partners' is other than the meta description. It is because, the other content is more optimized than the meta description for the key phrase. The key phrase is at later part in the meta description in comparison to that text content. Hope you can further optimize these for a desired result.

Home page is showing meta description in the SERP when the key phrase is searched. Home page has many backlinks from the searched key phrase due to which it is ranking for the key phrase and there wasn't necessary to look into other parameters for the ranking.

Please let me know once you get the desired result. Also, if you like this answer then please upvote. Thank you.
