Menu restructuring and SEO

Our CRO team is working on menu restructuring. What would yoy say should be kept in mind from an SEO perspective?

The menu should be user-friendly. It will make the menu search engines friendly too.

  • Link name of the pages
  • Accessibility of all the web pages

Above are the two important points to keep in mind while working on the menu of a website.

Don't use ton of HTML to build simple navigation. Use necessary markup, make it accessible for users navigating your website using screen readers and keep it semantically correct.

Sometimes, ^this alone helps a lot.

The menu and the entire page should have an appropriate structure. This means that from each subpage it should be possible to go to the main page in just a few clicks (2-3)

Adding an item to a menu is unlikely to reap much of the benefit of internal linking. But there are other ways your menu can benefit your SEO, and that benefit has to do with how users experience your site.
