Internal Links --> tanking my ranking

I started adding internal links (all links are relevant links and point to specific relevant content). I also want to mention, maybe.. I added 10-12 internal links. That's about it. And I was also adding a few more pages, nothing crazy.

enter image description here

As as a result my traffic tanked. You can see the marked line. That was the time I made the changes, and a few days later the traffic tanked.

Question:

  • Why?
  • What am I doing wrong?

Thank you very much for any little help, I really do appreciate it!

The downturn may not be due to your internal linking building, there was an algorithm update rolled out in June 2021, which may partially be caused by these algorithm updates as well. Hope this helps.

hmm.. I was looking at other blogs I have.. I didn't do any changes and everything is the same. I can relate this drop to the internal links.

Even if it's just a few... I think it's very evident it was just that. But I can't wrap my head around this, why those internal links would lead into that drop.

There was a mid may update. Unless you are cannibalizing your internal links or not adding any value. Better to do link audits to make sure you are not using the same anchor text for the internal links. If you are using WordPress, you can check out Linkilo, when it launches. Otherwise, use Ahref or other tools to see every anchor text you use.

But I can 99.9% say the reason is a mid-may update.
