Ahrefs Seo Tool

by @wags (128), 1 month ago

Hi All,

I am looking to do some seo on a new website we are starting and looking at a competitor 20 year website to check how many backlinks are on there website to see how big of a job it will be to rank (using a free version of Arefs for now) its shows a high DR for there website DR48 but a very very low number of backlinks (under 30 backlinks) but there site is ranking very well.

When I do a search in google for the domain in commas "domainname.com" it shows thousands of links.

My questions is :-

Why dont the links show in Ahrefs (it would be easier follow there backlinks in Ahrefs)

Thank you for any help in advance on my question.

Ahrefs (especially the free version) doesn’t always capture all backlinks, as its crawler has limitations compared to Google’s index. The thousands of links you see in Google could be from internal links, nofollow links, or sources Ahrefs hasn’t indexed. You might want to check other tools like Majestic or SEMrush for a broader backlink profile.

Ahrefs (like any SEO tool) doesn’t always catch every backlink, especially if they’re nofollow, private networks, or hidden behind JavaScript. Google’s index is different from Ahrefs’ crawler, so some links won’t show up. Try other tools like Majestic or SEMrush for a fuller picture.
