Updating old content with references to newer content?

by @gossamer (138), 1 year ago

I have numerous posts that mention "best practices" on our particular niche that all have different but similar content as each other. I'd hate to lose the old content, but what are the best practices for updating this content?

Most of the articles have a "best practices" section, so I can't just redirect the article to the new version altogether, but should I make sure that all articles are linking to the new one?

The rest of the articles are very similar to the most recent one we've written. Should we redirect them to the new one?

Think of your audience who actually read the content generated. If after reading the old content the new content will be liked by your readers then you can keep generating such content. Otherwise you should stop generating such duplicate or similar content. Like the readers, search engines too will dislike such content.
