Should I Disavow Links During Google's Link Spam Update?

My website has been getting a lot of spammy links in the last few months, which also correlates with the recent traffic drop, so my team has decided to disavow them. With Google's spam link update going on, should we wait for it to take effect or should we go ahead and disavow the links right away?
