Links with no and non-descriptive anchor text

by @gossamer (138), 1 year ago

We have a rather large joomla site. It has upwards of 25k articles created over 20+ years. Our SEMRush report shows that we have probably a few hundred links that either have "here" as the link description or no link description at all. Most of the links are for external sites, not internal links.

How big of a deal is this? Is it worth the time to fix? Any tips on how to fix these most easily? I'm assuming the only real way to do it would be manually.

These warning messages are to not to loss the opportunities. If a link is assigned from images with alt attribute or text links with proper anchor text then it is fruitful for SEO. There will not be a negative score by this but by using it properly there can be a positive score.

Okay, thank you. What if I were to change the alt text for all images to the article title? Or a few meta keywords from the article? Would that be helpful?

I think there may be too many to change the link text manually, but what if the link text was also the link? So instead of "a href=article.html>here" it might instead be "a href=article.html>article" ?
