I'm getting /ourwebsite.com/redirectUrl=Y.com type of backlinks from university website.
Backlinks of the type /ourwebsite.com/redirectUrl=Y.com were given to my website from a university's website. "Y" is a website that I don't know. For this reason, the total number of backlinks on my website is more than 1 million. My website is a Worpress based.
So how does removing backlinks affect my Google search results? Is there any solution other than removing backlinks? Will these types of backlinks positively affect my backlink authority? If I disavow these types of backlinks, will my backlink authority be negatively affected? If we disavow these backlinks from GSC on site Y, will ourwebsite.com's Backlink authority and indirectly Google rankings decrease? Why does site Y use ourwebsite.com and redirect through it instead of getting this backlink directly from university's website (instead of transferring that backlink score directly to itself)?
You can disavow unwanted links to tell Google to not consider as ranking factor. Visit below link for more information,

This kind of links will not help your website grow its authority. In some cases, it may have negative effect on the target site while most of the time they are being ignored by Google by default (they can easily recognize bigger link "attacks" when millions of new links appear over night following the same schema).
These types of backlinks may impact positively and if not then Google itself will ignore while considering rankings.
I am not sure if there is any potential benefit - it's obvious exploit, with the goal of website Y baiting webmasters to visit the site curious about those inbound links OR there could be a harmful script that takes visitors of given URL to Y.
Feel free to share full, real URL in a code tag, so we can check what's going on in there. But chances of it being beneficial are slim to none from my perspective.

Dealing with backlinks can be a tricky task. Backlinks from a university website can have both positive and negative impacts, depending on the quality and relevance of those links. If you're unsure about the source "Y," it's a good idea to investigate further.
