Homepage indexed - but disappeared after core update

I'm working on a longstanding, well established website. At the same time as the November 2024 core update (this could be coincidence), the homepage disappeared. Instead, topic pages are ranking. According to GSC, there are no issues and the homepage is indexed.
Has anyone else experienced this before?

Try to improve the quality of content and make it more engaging. Win 1 to 2 more quality backlinks. Things will normalize.
You need to update your content and remove bad backlinks to get into indexation of Google.
