Create free tool to attract inbound links

by @dnchcw (329), 19 hours ago

Hi,

I want to create some free online tools to attract inbound links. However, the pages containing these tools will normally only have a button or edit box, not many texts. So it is easy for them to be taken as thin contents. How to prevent this?

There should be text content for a better user experience. If a user lands on the tool page then there must be an overview of the tool together with other information. If the visitor will see it useful then only move further and use the tool. This will search engines too. It too will know about the tool and show up in the SERPs.

Hi!

That's a really great idea! Definitely, free tools are a great inbound link acquisition strategy. In terms of thin content, I can easily overcome this by adding more context around the tools. You can write a nice introduction as to what the tool does and in what ways it may benefit the users; inclusion of FAQs or maybe a small tutorial will be able to do this. Even user reviews or case studies could do. That way, the page carries much more useful content while being centered on the tool itself. Hope that helps!
