3 Month Old Site, Ranking for High Volume Keywords for Wrong Page?
Basically, I have a 3 month old site in a smaller niche. I have a lot of posts, about 80, with a mix of topical authority building pages, informational pages, and affiliate product pages.
One of my recent product posts is all of a sudden ranking high for a basic term, basically a single keyword the summarizes the niche, but it is a page that doesn't really match the search intent for the keyword.
Is there anything to do, as an SEO, to help signal to google that it isn't the right page of my site to rank high for the keyword? Do I just make sure to add internal links to that page to try to send a signal to Google that there is a better page to rank for that keyword?
The site was averaging about 400 impressions a day. The last 2 days I have been getting about 2,000 impressions on this new page alone.
You can improve the UX of the landing page to monetize. Let it rank. Send visitors to the right page after they land on this ranked page by putting some banner or likewise. Hope you can think over it and apply the necessary UX to seize the opportunity.
