Currently on my website there is five language versions in total. Sitemap index looks like below:

domain.com/tr/sitemap.xml

domain.com/en/sitemap.xml

domain.com/fr/sitemap.xml

domain.com/de/sitemap.xml

www.domain.com/nl/sitemap.xml

My question is which one should i set up as canonical: domain.com/mainpage or domain.com? Google suggests domain.com as the canonical and says the other one is duplicated content. But would this Google's version be correct in terms of website structure?

I'm not so sure because I got help from a website creating company. They provided me with this sitemap and they set up "domain.com/mainpage" as canonical. Want to make sure if there is anything wrong since i got an duplicated content error from search console.

Yes, removal of such not found URLs is the best practice. And, then ask Google to validate the errors.

Otherwise, Google might take much time to know the fact and till then the website will keep suffering.

To fix the 404 errors resulting from deleted pages on your site, you should execute a URL Removal through Google Search Console.

Hello guys, I have a question about 404 codes. We removed some pages from the website panel and of course started to receive 404 code warnings from Search Console. I was wondering if it's necessary for us to do a URL Removal from Google Search Console as well

Hello everyone :) I have a question about backlinks. I discovered weird backlinks while analyzing my website on Semrush. However, these backlinks do not come up in my Google Search Console account. Do I need to disavow them still? Could there be a kind of attack to my website?
